Local Judge - Shaun Wake-Mazey
Shaun Wake-Mazey is a visual artist concentrating on large scale oil painting and charcoals. His career spans some 35 years.
He has shown his work throughout Australia as well as living in Italy for some years. After 15 years on the east coast of Australia
he has returned to his home state and now lives and works in Albany WA.
Local Judge - Barbie Greenshields
Dr Barbie Greenshields received a MFA from University of Tasmania in 2000 then completed a PhD in Fine Arts at Griffith University, Queensland in 2005. Barbie’s art practice is an exploration and exposition of her ideas of mortality and belonging. Her most recent solo exhibition Secundum Vitae was at Nyisztor Studio Gallery, Perth, 2016. Her previous solo exhibition, Shifting Comfort at Gallery Central, Perth 2010 culminated a three-month winter residency in Scotland. Recent group exhibitions include Textile Exchange Project – Re, a prefix, Hyogo Museum of Art, Japan, August 2011 and Perth Museum, Perth, November 2011, Mine Own Executioner 2009, Mundaring Arts Centre, 17th Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial In the World; head, hand and heart 2006, Temperature; Contemporary Queensland Sculpture 2004 at the Museum of Brisbane, Mesh 2003 at The Art Gallery, National Institute of Education, Singapore and Boundless at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth, 2002. Barbie lives and works in Albany, Western Australia where her practice has also included curating, artist mentoring, teaching as a sessional academic, writing art magazine reviews, conference speaker and state government and regional grant panellist.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Curtin University, Belinda Cobby has had almost 30 years’ experience working as an art consultant, curator and collection manager for a variety of organizations in Perth. She has worked extensively within local, state and federal government to manage art collections for a variety of organizations including the City of Perth & City of Joondalup, Princess Margaret Hospital & Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals and Artbank.
Belinda has previously been involved with the selection and judging panels for major cultural events including the Sculpture by the Sean (Bondi and Cottesloe), Bankwest Art Prize and the City of Perth Art Awards and Commissions.
Belinda Cobby currently works with Turner Galleries on the Art Angels program – an innovative artist in residence program that extends artistic networks between patrons and artists whilst providing practical support to artists in Australia. She is also the Art Curator and Art Program Coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Health Service.
